Once you get it running, see if you can find out what kind of player numbers they've got at around our usual flying times. I'd be curious to know.

Took a look tonight (Wed 4/16). 48/100 on ATAG the most most popular server. About a dozen servers listed with onzie toozies in them but ATAG is the place to go. Saw AKA Recon in there the night I was updating CloD (Monday). 35/100 that night. Recognized many others as well. This will be fun but will most likely be AirQuake type severs with no real organization or objectives like we have in GS currently. Supposedly work is being done towards that goal tho. Maybe in the next up coming V5.0 Mod...

I was hoping there would be more than that, but maybe there will be around the weekend?
Where are all the WW2 sim fighter pilots? There has to be more somewhere!

Yeah those are weekday numbers.I've heard that there are way more on the weekends, Upwards of a 100. I think that ATAG even has a second server for over flow? I'll check it then too.

I've been checking BOS, CLOD, and Hyperlobby for attendance a few times a day at various times. Not sure where everyone is going. Nothing really stands out as the go to place. Hyperlobby is showing steadily declining numbers nearly dead for 1946. BOS not that great and sporadic. CLOD is more consistent in 30's to 40's in numbers nightly but nothing super great as anticipated. Still probably the way to go for now. Maybe people are just doing lots of single player here and there? Very sad state of affairs

From talking with Zurich about it, the numbers playing CLOD online, and those more directly involved with its development are European, so their times see more people. If we want to be optimistic, a Ghost Skies type of thing may corner the market on North American players, giving them something to really sink their teeth into, which seems to be lacking at the moment. I browsed the BoS updates and they are nowhere close to releasing a full game. If they try to push something out "officially" this Spring as advertised, it will be a partially featured bug fest. I hope they take their time and get it right, even if it goes to next year. In the meantime, CLOD appears to be more polished and feature ready to support our style of gameplay.

It really doesn't look like it Hackl. I just hope we can get CLOD going successfully.
I guess you guys all already have CLOD (does Tepes?), but I've been watching Steam for the next sale. When it happens I'll make a post in the GS forums for anyone who may not have it yet.

I'm thinking there isn't. We may be able to hold what we have until the end of round 2, which I'd be happy with. I don't think it's worth the time and effort to build a whole campaign for turnouts that are usually less than 30, and then hope we can hold that for 6 more months. If we can get that much or more in something organized with CLOD, we should do it. We have until late July before Eastern Alps ends, so we should have more information on whether to continue or transition before that time.

Hackl, You mentioned all of the controls you needed to program to your joystick in order to fly COD. I found this list of essential controls. Most of it is probably obvious, but it helped me figure out what I needed to start with. Anything not on the list is typically for more specialized use, like air brakes, bomb doors, etc. theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50583) Dedicating Essential Keys To any player new to a full real dogfighting sim and server dedication of keys may seem a very daunting process. In Cliffs of Dover there are over 700 dedicatable keys and axes. However of all the keys that are available for dedication only a few (around 36) are actually essential for competent game play. Knowing which ones these are and where they are will greatly reduce your time doing this sometimes laborious process and get you in the air flying a lot sooner. Remember dedicating keys is a personal choice too, as to where they go on your devices and keyboard is entirely up to you. Spend time flying and re-arranging your keys as you realise when and if you need them during flights and dogfighting, this is the only way to find out. Also as with any learning process the more you fly the more you will become accustomed to where the important keys are at hand until it becomes second nature. Below are the essential keys for dedication in order as they are in the game 'Controls' list. This list does not include keys dedicated for bombers. It is an introductory list to ease new players into the game to get them in the air and therefore only the more common aircraft from both sides are chosen for initial key dedication, the Bf109 and Spitfire. KEYS General Bail Out Toggle Canopy (Spits and Hurris) Jettison Canopy (Bf109) Toggle Gunsight Illumination Map Aircraft Trim Elevator Nose-Up Trim Elevator Nose-Down Trim Rudder Right Trim Rudder Left Toggle Landing Flaps Lower Landing Flaps Position (Bf109) Raise Landing Flap Position (Bf109) Toggle Undercarriage Full Wheel Brakes Fire Guns (Machine Guns + Cannon) Toggle Selected Engine(s) Close Radiator Open Radiator Close Oil Radiator (Bf109) Open Oil Radiator (Bf109) Boost Cut-Out (Spits and Hurris) Decrease Propellor Pitch Increase Propellor Pitch Toggle Propellor Pitch Automation (Bf109-E4) Fuel Cock #1 - Toggle View External View (For use on servers with external views) Inside View(For use on servers with external views) External Padlock - Enemy Aircraft (For use on servers with external views) External Padlock - Friendly Aircraft (For use on servers with external views) External View - Cycle Enemy Aircraft (For use on servers with external views) External View - Cycle Friendly Aircraft (For use on servers with external views) Lean to Gunsight (Zoom - Bf109) Camera Field Of View 30' (Zoom - Spit and Hurri) Field Of View 90' Pan Views and Snap Views (These are dictated by the Hat switch on your Joystick or TrackIR if you have it) Chat Toggle Net Stats(For Online Gaming) AXES Aircraft Aileron Elevator Rudder Throttle

I saw something about like that on the ATAG forum and wrote down what I think I need plus a few extras.
My friend wants to come over to-nite,any minute now actually and do my upgrade.
Hope it all goes OK so I can fly GS Sunday.

I had to put in a decent amount of time to get my controls and everything else set up, but last night I finally got to fly COD online. It was fun! I'm able to run the game with maxed settings and it ran basically as well as 1946, but prettier.
I highly recommend you guys get it going and try it out with the TF mod.
Also, on one of the ATAG servers, it said full switch/ AI. I guess you can have AI planes in dogfight servers? What if we implemented this in GS by allowing mission commanders to save up resources and do full scale AI bombing raids? Or even use AI to make supply runs so that we don't lose pilots who hate flying those things?

Tepes, You could have gotten it either way. Check your Steam account if you can't find a CD. If you absolutely can't find it anywhere, you can get it here: www.gamesrocket.com/download/IL-2-Sturmovik-Cliffs-of-Dover.html?ref=1¤cy=USD&fnt=1&gclid=CMPOpI_Fkb4CFYqFfgod3qQAJg for $12.49, and they will send you a Steam key. I got mine from there and it was all legit. Best price I could find. Heiden! Nice to see you back. Part of the fun I've been having is figuring out how to fly these things. The first time I got a plane into the air I blew an engine 30 seconds later while I was still celebrating the fact that I had finally gotten airborne. I've blown at least 10 engines since then trying to figure out what the spit and 109 like... it definitely takes more care than in IL246. It's freakin awesome. As far as Track IR goes, I've not had any issues with mine... worked exactly the same as in 46 as soon as I first launched COD.

Mine is very eratic and doesn't seem to like the centering. Trying to use the gunsight is next to impossible.

O.K. I've found my Steam account credentials and downloaded the game. Looks like is 1.11.20362 version. Do we need further patches or just log in in Steam get a server and fly?

Team Fusion game is Steam stock plus patches or just a new game altogether? Also, is playable via Steam or direct connect somehow?

Tepes, Go here: theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10056 and scroll down to post #11 for the download links. You need to get each one of those. Then follow the instructions here: theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6290. Take care to notice especially this step: "An important note. Once you have installed Patch v4.00, before you run it, go to your; C:\Users\(your username here)\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD open it and find the 'cache folder' and select all the contents and then delete them. These files are used by the older version v3.01 and could cause graphical issues if not removed before you run v4.00" After you are all patched up, you will be able to play through Steam.

Is it jumping around while you're trying to hold still or are the movements jerky when you're trying to look around?
