Stecher I went ahead and ordered that asus monitor. Amazon had it for $211.49 today and free shipping to boot. Too good to resist. Gotta sell a liver lobe now to pay for it all

There is no such thing as future proof computers. But you are about as close as you can get. That will be solid for many years. What are you thinking for a PSU? The beast will be hungry.

I have a corsair 750w. My tech guy seems to think it will be ok. I will order a better one at least 850w or better if i have to tho. I been sitting on that one to see how it goes. Card says 42A min on 12v rail. mine has 67A.

Yeah, that PSU should be fine. Is that Noctua cooler going to fit your case at 165mm tall?

Stecher my Asus monitor will be here today. Just curious how calibration was out of box or if you had to tweak on it some.

It was either spot on, or very close. I don't remember if I changed anything from factory default settings. I never mess with different color modes or temperatures. But there's a good site for calibrating brightness, contrast, gamma, etc. www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/I'd just recommend putting the Trace Free on 20.

I'm jealous of your GPU!!
Make sure you overclock the f**k out of that I5 when you get it. I just added some steam to my i7-2600K tonight and OC'd it to 4.4GHz from 3.4. So far it's rock hard steady and I going to put it through the Battlefield 4 stress test tomorrow. If it does well temp-wise, I'm pressing it up to 4.5GHz. Intel CPUs can take a beating and keep on working.

Hackl, did you still have that stuck red pixel? I was lucky and didn't have any pixel issues, but supposedly if it's not dead (black), and just stuck on one of the 3 primary colors, there's a chance of fixing it. Various methods have been suggested, some of which I wouldn't try for fear of messing up the panel worse. I'm trying to find some safer options if you still have the issue.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjdrMuKpaCITry playing this video, with your browser window resized and/or partially covered by other windows so that only the area of the stuck pixel is exposed to color flashing. It works for some people in a few minutes, some a few hours, some not at all. But it's the first step before you start getting physical.

Sometimes I wonder if it is just a piece of dust trapped in the screen layer thru faulty manufacturing. I exchanged a new Ipad because of that and that's what they told me it was. Man this link will put you in an epileptic fit...wowy zowy

Along the same lines ...upgrade that is ...question for Stecher/Gunther ..installing my case/fan ..how did you managed to use the rubber 'bolts' for the front fan? They don't get through ... the holes are too small?! Tep

Hey Tepes, I actually had to look up a video on youtube for those things! Basically... you just pull until they pop through. They are stronger than they seem. Here is a video I found that shows how to do it so you can make sure you have the same ones. Fast forward to about 0:50. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MvUsuC2rWE

I've installed the up fan, but I can't seem to be able to pull the grommets through the front fan holes? No problems with the upper fans. I have same case/fans like you and Stecher.

Had to drill existing holes to allow for rubber grommets installation. All O.K now, flew GLoD, views are stunning even with default ATI setup (all to 'use application settings' like).

Hackl, what kind of a hard drive are you using? The guy who I am having upgrade my computer thinks that may be my problem rather than the i7 920 speed.

SSDs make a huge difference in startup/restart times, opening programs, compressing/extracting or copy/pasting large files, etc. They make the general use of your computer much quicker. But they do not affect FPS during gameplay. Loading the game or maybe loading the map when you join a server will be quicker, but once you are in the cockpit, HDD vs SSD does not factor in.
If you're thinking of one, it's hard to beat Crucial's MX200 line for quality and price.
