Yeah! It arrived today instead of tomorrow, and I've just finished tinkering with it to get colors, brightness, contrast, etc. squared away. Using ReShade with just a couple of filters, and running the game at 1920x1080x60Hz, I'm picking out 15 of the 16 contacts in the Contact Spotting mission. I must say, I'm a pretty happy camper!

Yeah, well, if it doesn't help, then I'm just a crap pilot; no excuses, eh? ;D

Nice buy, looks like a real good one Baldur. Have you tried it at the native 1440? Sharper image, but wondering if dots are too small. Is there a 75Hz option as I see 50~75Hz mentioned for that model. More than a few monitors have that spec. Some say they can get 75Hz, others say their settings max at 60Hz. Just curious because I might pick up one in the future with that. For Asus, make sure to set that Trace Free setting as high until you see color inverted motion artifacts. On most (but not all) Asus monitors, Trace Free 60 is the best balance of pixel overdrive. If there is anything on there called Vivid Pixel (on new Asus monitors) turn it off. Looking forward to hearing how it performs after a few nights of flying.

Yeah, Stech; I've seen 75Hz mentioned too, but think that would require at least a miniport driver for the monitor, and there isn't one for Windows 10. I'm kind of annoyed that such a simple driver still isn't available. As such, the monitor shows up as generic in Windows, and it's not possible to install the one for Win7; they'd need to provide an updated INF file, as it shows as invalid or corrupt when you try.
I have tried the native res, but as you say, the dots are pretty fine, and visibility isn't as good as under 1920x1080. I'll try your other settings tips later tonight and see how they affect it at native and 1920x1080. Thanks for those!
Oh; and FWIW, I have absolutely none of the issues mentioned in any of the reviews. Panel is pristine, OSD buttons have moved to the bottom of the bezel instead of the back, and the DisplayPort setting doesn't appear to have an option for 1.1 or 1.2; they may be auto-detecting it now.
Found a Windows 8.0 driver; I'll try that, too.

Stech, TraceFree was already set to 60, so I left it there. Vivid Pixel was at 25%, turned it off, and that cleaned it up even a bit more. I tried again at 2560x1440, but the pixels are way too fine to pick out contacts well at that resolution. The Windows 8.0 driver did install correctly, but as far as I can see, it made no real difference other than to properly identify the monitor for Windows.
Using ReShade's Finesharp mode 2, FXAA and Vibrance, contacts really seem to pop out. Flew a lot offline this morning; nobody was on ATAG @ 02:30. Very happy with this monitor. I was afraid I might regret it, and that I should have gone with the Dell @ $150-ish more, but the price point for this guy was very appealing, and it's turned out to be a very good choice. Now we'll see how it holds up to usage.

Good to hear you're liking it so far. Too bad about the dot sizes with the finer resolution. That's always going to bite us when looking for sharper image quality with this game. I tried that contact spotting mission last night with Hackl, and I'm getting 11 clearly, another 3 barely. Can't see the last 2, and I'm not sure how anyone can because they are at 15km and 16km. The default DOT setting is 14km, so they shouldn't even be drawn. When I set DOT to 25, which is what most servers run, I get all 16 without issue. Of course it helps to know where to look.

Yeah, with the 22", the best I could get was 11-12 contacts, tops.

Just FYI, if you find something about modifying an rcu file to help with dots, all that does is set the game up to automatically add the 'mp_dotrange DOT 25' line when the game loads. This could be helpful if you play singleplayer and don't want to type it into the console every time. But with multiplayer, that setting is server controlled, so that rcu file will do nothing for dots when online. ATAG, SOW, and GS all have it on DOT 25 anyway. They're already maxed out.

Assuming no actual defects, and proper setup, it should look really, really good in terms of image quality for many things. I'm certainly interested in how well it handles head movement when flying. That's the biggest risk with that one. Dots slightly darker, and planes more defined should help with ID. Going from 24 to 32 is going to be impressive.

Got the new monitor setup and running. BIG! But I really really like it!! Tried running in 1920x1200 for a day or 2. Things were got but seemed grainy to me; instruments were fuzzy and aircraft id ok. Spotting pretty good too. Then I went to native Resolution at 2560x1440 at 75hz. Wham! No going back. I really dig this thing and Spotting and IDing is actually up believe it or not. Baldur helped get Reshade 2.0.3 installed and that is the icing on the cake. Went in ATAG last night for a test spin and had 3 Blennie kills and dewinged a hurri in just a couple minutes of taking off. Shot up some spits also but landed due winchester cannon. That was a blast! Went up again and killed more. I really felt like a badass on this night I worked a 13 hour and really needed sleep so I called it a night. Really looking forward to more flying now
