Well, it looks like the shared server that jg51.com is on has been blacklisted... AGAIN. I got Comcast to unblock the IP yesterday, but Hotmail (among others, I imagine) is apparently still refusing e-mail from the specific IP address, which about 600 domains use. Fortunately, RBLs are dynamic (as far as I understand), so this should be a temporary thing... again.
Unfortunately, this means that Stecher (at the very least) might have not received e-mails recently sent to him at his JG51 address [update: most e-mails do seem to be getting through], as that address only forwards e-mail to his Hotmail address. I guess it depends on whether Hotmail considers the e-mail to be coming from the original sender's address or the forwarding jg51.com address. I'm pretty sure AOL incorrectly does the latter.
Even if the forwarded e-mail has been getting through, frankly, this is only one of about a dozen proverbial straws on a weak camel's back, and we're (or at least I'm) considering switching hosting providers again. After canceling my Dotster hosting, my first account with Lunarpages was created more than 3 years ago. Everything was great for at least the first year, maybe even two years. I even got my grandma to sign up with them for her web sites. Then they started offering insane amounts of storage and bandwidth for the same price, as if their generous coupons didn't already give people a great deal. That's about when the trouble started, and I discovered that their support team was often fast but not very helpful (except for the admins)... I'm guessing they have grown too fast for their own good. They seem to have ditched their toll-free number a while back, too. In fairness, I suppose I have run into more problems than your average Lunarpages customer because I've dealt with 3 accounts (now 2). Although I can only think of one incident where the problem was not on their end.
What shared hosting providers do you guys recommend? I've been seriously considering Downtown Host.
