I had a quick peek at the homepage for Track IR and noticed four different versions but I'm not sure what to get exactly. There is Track IR 5 but it is $150.
Any recommendations for what I should get ?

I have a TrackIR 4:PRO with the Pro Clip (black thingy that clips onto headphones with 3 LED's) I noticed a huge jump between the 3 and 4. The 3 didn't have the range of motion that I needed and I spent more time trying to find the sweet spot so I could look over both my left and right shoulders than anything. When I got the 4 I plugged it in and it was flyable. I tweaked the translation motions a bit, but didn't have to mess with the rotations.
The Clip is optional ($30 USD extra I think) I bought it so I wouldn't have to wear a hat while flying. I haven't flown with the hatclip at all with the TIR4 so I don't know if there's a signficant difference. I can see how it might give you an advantage because its an active device but probably not a big deal.

I have the TIR4 with the hatclip and it works pretty good. I asked the TIR people in an email what the differences were between the 4 and 5 and it seems to mainly be a bit faster reponse time and allows you to move around more without losing the center and having to hit the F12 center key. I think you'd be happy with the TIR 4 Molders (perhaps even happier with the 5, but it's certainly a lot more expensive). Btw, anyone using the TIR and a force feedback stick won't be happy with ROF as the force doesn't work when you turn the TIR on. I've flown around a bit and did a few landings in the Albatross just using the hat switch and it is great fun. I sure hope they fix this asap. Once they do I think it will be a fantastic sim. The detail is amazing, you can watch the rocker arms on the top of the engine working, little puffs of smoke come out of the radiator when it gets hot and the exhaust from the engine going by the right side of your head is really something. Clouds are fantastic and I could go on a on.

I found a $20 rebate (forget if it was USD or CDN) for TIR 5 with the clip for headphones. With shipping, I would be looking at about ~$170. For those with TIR, is TIR 5 really worth the money right now or would TIR 4 with a clip be worth it ? I'm on a very tight budget with my final year of school a month away and the looming costs of books and such so aside from a cheap man's computer upgrade, I don't have much to spend on TIR.
Stachl, I noticed a patch was released when I upgraded my game earlier this afternoon but I'm not sure what it updated.

I haven't used a TIR5 but the TIR4 does everything I want it too. I really put it through its passes while flying BlackShark and had no issues what so ever.
With the 3 I had limited range of motion and texture tearing on the screen.

I'm seriously considering the Track IR 4 with Pro clip but it will have to wait as I am under gross amount I wanted to be before entering my final year of school. I've waited this long, I can wait a few more months.
