I bought one if anyone wants to know anything about it. I'll post a review after I've had a couple weeks to play with it. First impressions are its precise and sturdy and more ergonomic than my Ch stuff. This is surprising since the last logitech device I bought fell apart in 2 weeks. It took an act of faith to lay down the money knowing I was buying something from logitech.
The last FFB stick I used was a microsoft sidewinder (gameport edition) about 10 years ago. From what I remember from that stick's behavior, the g940 is stronger, but doesn't kick around as much. When the guns fire its more damped instead of trying to do a backflip off the desk.
Programming software is functional but nothing to get excited about. There is an SDK that looks interesting though. You could do something like tie the LED's of the buttons to the landing gear status (red up, green down) if we get mutiplayer devicelink mod incorporated with FS.

Yea I'll be interested to hear how it checks out Specter. I still use a MS FFB1 gameport. Had to replace the trigger and top button board (man those wires were hard to sodder), but otherwise I sure like it. Although since I've never used anything else . . . how the heck would I know.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I haven't used FFB for a very long time. Plus the stick in IL-2 isn't modeling the stick in the airplane, its modeling the force applied to the stick by the pilot. So its a bit wierd because the stick neutral position is always in the center (real plane changes with trim). So I was a little disspointed because it still acts like a spring joystick to some extent, this is an issue with IL-2 and not the stick though. Things I like so far - Physically they feel right
- Force changes with airplane loading, can really feel high g and high speed maneuvers
- Stall buffet
- Dual action trigger, half pull machine guns, full pull cannons
- Hall effect sensors for all rotating components
- Rotaries on throttle
Things I don't - "Trim" rotaries on base of stick, just awkward
- No detents on any of the rotaries
- Logitechs software really sucks. Doesn't do more than assign keys to buttons. It has the capability to assign key sequences to axies and do repeated command sequences.
If you want to assign a POV hat to a command it can only be 1 key commands. I tried to bind ctrl-l to one of the hats on the throttle and it wouldn't let me. Its still querky, but I found a way around this
- You can't change response curves to any of the axies only a nebulous slider called "sensitivity." No explanation what this means.
- No real access to the button LEDs on the throttle. They give you a Software Development Kit (SDK), but that means you have to be a programmer to change the color of the buttons.
- Again with the software. For my Ch pedals I wrote a script that would allow both pedals to work for the brake. Not possible with logitech's software. So for the time being I have to use the right pedal. Makes it awkward to spin the plane left using the brake.
- The software has to be running to use the profiles.
Most of my complaints so far are either trivial or with the software (which I'm beginng to loathe). The software lives up to Logitech's reputation, so far the hardware breaks the mold.

I had to swap out the logitech rudder pedals with my ch ones today. The logitech ones were spiking already, I'm guessing the pots are already fried and/or a grounding issue. Had the same thing happen to me on a logitech joystick which I replaced 3 times (after which I swore never to buy logitech ever again). I see logitech's quality control is still top notch.
The physical quality seems pretty good, as good as my ch stuff. However, it seems the circuitry not so much. The stick will probably be good because it uses hall effect sensors, but I think its only a matter of time that the throttle starts acting up.
My opinion don't buy one. Stick to CH or Saitek.

Thanks for the review. Luckily I still have my trusty MSFF 1 with a new trigger, hat, and cannon buttons. It works just like new and I love the thing. Too bad they stopped making them.

It is and Logitech has been very helpful and offered to replace it. But its a defective design more so than a defective device.
