Submitted an application and spoke with Stecher last night on TS. Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I flew in IL2 from it's initial release until Jan 2003, when I joined the Army (Infantry). I was stationed in hawaii and deployed to both afghanistan and iraq. I got out in january 2008 (after a nice lengthy stop-loss), and am currently going to school to be a paramedic and doing 1 year in the national guard to finish out my military commitment. I am married with a 20 month old son, and have just got back into IL2 and wanted to fly again with a squad as it is vastly more fun, and I need the training too. I'm excited to learn how to fly the 190 much better as it is my favorite plane but I cant say I have ever been as successful as I have been in a 109.
Look forward to flying with everyone, and hope I can become a good wingman sooner rather than later.

It was good to talk with you Krafft. When we got short on time, I kind of sped through that last part, just to get you pointed in the right direction. I know I was dumping tons of info on you there. That always happens at the start. We'll go over more stuff in more detail when we have time, and it'll sink in soon enough. I look forward to getting you in the cockpit and seeing where we need to pick up at.

Don't you get a nice little bonus grand a month when you're involuntarily extended on a deployment? When I was in Iraq for OIF3 we had a guy that was involuntary extended past his ETS date and he was drawing an extra $1000/mo for it.

I didnt get the extra grand just for being stop lossed, I only collected it for the months we went past a year when they changed the standard tour from 1 year to 15 months, although now that that is "standard" I'm sure they will take away that money.

I heard the standard tour is back down to 12 months now. 15 months does nothing for the retention rate.

I know they are trying to reduce it, I didn't know they already had. And you are right, it does nothing good for retention.
