S!, I was wondering if a high end video card such as a 6800 or an x800 that doesn't come with Intellisample 3.0 (extreme antialiasing) or the ATI equivilent, will I really notice bad anti aliasing like on my 9550 or will it still look good ? Thanks.

If it doesn't have that type of AA, would it have another kind, or just none at all? Because if it doens't have any, I'd think it would look just like it does now as far as AA goes. I wasn't aware that you could get high end cards that don't offer typical AA capability.

Anything you get in the x800 and 6xxx range will be in another league to what you have now. I noticed a pretty big difference in graphics quality and "smoothness" when I upgraded from a 9700pro to a 9800pro. That was only 1 generation, you will be skipping about 4 generations. Here's a page I found that uses pacific fighters as a benchmark for various graphics cards. On the same site is another article that shows how to get the most out of the X800 and 6600 series.

I have rung this game with the X850pro and the BFG 6800 GT OC and you cant turn the AA up enough to smooth out the edges. I think it's the software. But the game is most enjoyable with the high end cards.

For example, many BFG high end cards, such as the 6600 and 6800 series, don't have Intellisample 3.0. I know my 9550 is not for performance and purely mainstream, but can't a high end GPU such as a 6800 still process AA even without the Intellisample ? Prehaps I should e-mail BFGtech with my newb question

All high-end cards process AA even without intellisample. That was the point I was making in my previous post. However, the game was not built to take advantage of all the power of the high-end cards. So the AA will only have minimal effect on the IL2 series of games. Other games that were built to be graphic intensive look great when using one of these high-end cards.
