Hackl, did you still have that stuck red pixel? I was lucky and didn't have any pixel issues, but supposedly if it's not dead (black), and just stuck on one of the 3 primary colors, there's a chance of fixing it. Various methods have been suggested, some of which I wouldn't try for fear of messing up the panel worse. I'm trying to find some safer options if you still have the issue.

Should we throw our hat in to the ATAG "campaign"? It's basically a simple 10 mission run, Saturday and Sunday during June. Each team has 5 airfields across the Channel and you attack/defend them. It would be a good way to get our feet wet with CLOD and make some connections with the community there which could pay off when we try to launch a GS style campaign in CLOD. The only potential issue is that this is international, so the starting time for missions is 11am PDT. If you guys think it's worth getting into, I'll sign us up. JG1 and TUSA are already in, btw.

For me at least, it's likely to be a toss up between those two nights, alternating depending on the week. Whichever works better most of the time for most of us, it would be good to do, just so long as we don't get our wires crossed when flying GS and start hitting the wrong controls in combat.

It was either spot on, or very close. I don't remember if I changed anything from factory default settings. I never mess with different color modes or temperatures. But there's a good site for calibrating brightness, contrast, gamma, etc. www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/I'd just recommend putting the Trace Free on 20.

I'm thinking there isn't. We may be able to hold what we have until the end of round 2, which I'd be happy with. I don't think it's worth the time and effort to build a whole campaign for turnouts that are usually less than 30, and then hope we can hold that for 6 more months. If we can get that much or more in something organized with CLOD, we should do it. We have until late July before Eastern Alps ends, so we should have more information on whether to continue or transition before that time.

Yeah, that PSU should be fine. Is that Noctua cooler going to fit your case at 165mm tall?

From talking with Zurich about it, the numbers playing CLOD online, and those more directly involved with its development are European, so their times see more people. If we want to be optimistic, a Ghost Skies type of thing may corner the market on North American players, giving them something to really sink their teeth into, which seems to be lacking at the moment. I browsed the BoS updates and they are nowhere close to releasing a full game. If they try to push something out "officially" this Spring as advertised, it will be a partially featured bug fest. I hope they take their time and get it right, even if it goes to next year. In the meantime, CLOD appears to be more polished and feature ready to support our style of gameplay.

There is no such thing as future proof computers. But you are about as close as you can get. That will be solid for many years. What are you thinking for a PSU? The beast will be hungry.

Mine is the same Tepes. I can't load the game without expert mode or it crashes at 5%. When you manually copy/paste in fb_hfx3do24.sfs, that is only part of what expert mode is, which is why you get farther, but not all the way. Expert mode, also contains 5 class files, and (in their folders) the flight model buttons file, and tweaked technics.ini and ships.ini files, which are all needed to work with whatever they've compiled in fb_hfx3do24.sfs.
When I'm running with expert mode, and everything loads normally. I still get the section of:
Whatever that means, it doesn't cause a crash. But I'm curious if everyone gets this section, especially those who CAN load the game without expert mode. I'm wondering if this section, while not causing a crash with expert mode, is a clue that something's wrong. We obviously should be able to load the game without expert mode. I have also been unable to load the game with the Unlocked FMB mod, which is how I build/mod maps. I had to use 4.11.1/HSFX6 for all the work on the Alps map. I could not find an explanation of why Unlocked FMB would break my game suddenly, and only saw it mentioned maybe 3 times in the major IL-2 forums (some were before HSFX7), without any resolution or even idea on how to fix it. Most people can still use it, as I expect most people can load the game without expert mode.
To get a log, go into your conf.ini, under the [Console] section, about half way down, and set LOG=1. When you load your game, it will create a file called log.lst in your main directory. Can you guys please check to see if you can load the game without expert mode. Just try it with history mod, and nothing else. And if you can, please post your log.lst file in here to see if you get that INTERNAL ERROR bunch Tepes and I are getting, even when we don't get a crash.

As a heads up to everyone, this forum will soon be converted over to the new version of Proboards software. I don't know exactly when. The URL of this forum should remain the same. As best as I can determine, the first time you come here to log in after the conversion is completed, you will be presented with a different login screen. Use your same account name and password that you've always used for this forum. It will then ask you to enter the email account that you have registered with on here, and to confirm your forum login password again. This second step should be a one time thing, just for the initial login on the new software. Make sure you know what these are, if you rely on auto filled login fields, or maybe have an outdated email address in your profile.
All boards, member accounts, topics, and posts should be retained from our current forum, but the design of the forum will need redone on my part. So don't get scared when one day you come on here and it looks totally different and it asks you to log in differently.

This has been the first time I've logged on in two weeks. I needed to unplug and get a break from everything this year. Got a lot of stuff done that I've been putting off for flying. We'll be picking back up this week. I'll have the server up with some new stuff Sunday evening, but we'll soon be switching to the new 2 day schedule when we have it pegged.

CLOD may be the best single experience flight sim available right now. The guys that picked it up after 1C jumped ship seem to have done a really nice job from what I can tell, tying up many loose ends. The issue is its long term prospects aren't nearly as good as the official support BOS is going to get. When that actually takes off, I expect that will be the place to be. Until then CLOD certainly has better FM, control systems, graphics, etc than old IL-2, but it's a single scenario. What I'm always in search of is the online war experience. Being part of a team, working towards some common goal in an organized fashion. That's what makes this game fun to me, and what keeps my interest over the long term. Old IL-2 still dominates the opportunities for such an experience, despite being very long in the tooth in other respects.
I could fly CLOD like I'd fly on HL in Spits/109s. Which is to say, it might be fun here and there for an evening, but I don't see it keeping my interest in any way close to what GS does. So I just don't do it. If I have an open night that isn't reserved for actually flying a GS mission, but I'm still going to spend it on the computer doing something with game(s), I'm probably working on something to make GS better.
This is perhaps one of the benefits of what we're likely heading towards with GS, backing off to 2 missions per week. For those who still want to keep that night for flying, maybe we can fly CLOD, or when BOS is further along, start working ourselves into that together.

Sorry, I missed the last step. When you run the HSFX_Auto_Updater.EXE inside your main directory, all that does is install the actual updater exe. That doesn't do the updating. It will create HSFX_Client_Updater.exe. Running that will actually update you to 7.0.1. I'll correct the above steps.
That explains my version tag while loading, but it wasn't my main issue with the crashed loading attempts or the JSGME error. Something must have been corrupted in the original HSFX 7 install. On my second full attempt, JSGME works properly now, and it doesn't crash with Expert Mode. Getting 4.12.2 and HSFX 7.0.1 tags.

When you guys complete the process, make sure you are getting the proper version in the bottom left of the loading screen. Something went bad with my first time through. I had just finished getting it to 4.12.1 with HSFX 7 and then noticed that they released the 7.0.1 updater that made it work with 4.12.2 a couple hours earlier. When I run the JSGME program, it seems to work, but I can't close it. It won't let me, throwing up some error instead. I have to use Task Manager to End Now. My version said 4.12.1 with HSFX 7, which was right. But now, after installing 4.12.2 and running the updater for HSFX 7.0.1, my loading screen still says 4.12.1 and HSFX 7. My JSGME still won't let me close it. And when I tried loading the game with Expert Mode, or the Unlocked FMB for modding maps, it crashes. So I'll have to restart from my stock 4.11.1 backup and try again. If you guys get it working, or run into any similar issues, let us know.

I put up all the links in the Admin News section. But I'll just list them all here too, along with uTorrent if you need it. Assuming everyone at this point has a 4.11.1 UNMODDED install backed up from when we went to HSFX 6. Here's everything you need from there. 4.12 mediafire.com/?2af5vj4fow3b5f7Extract the zip, then run the exe pointed to the main IL-2 directory. 4.12.1 www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&get=4371&mirror=6795Extract the rar, then run the exe pointed to the main IL-2 directory. 4.12.2 mediafire.com/download/5p6jomi38itw8fo/Il2_412_2_INT.exeRun the exe pointed to the main IL-2 directory. uTorrent www.utorrent.com/downloads/complete/os/winIf you don't already have a torrent program to download HSFX 7 with, you can use this. Run the exe to install the program. Pay attention to any extra crap it tries to install during the process. Don't accept their "special offer", don't install the browser bar, or anything else you don't need. Just uncheck the extra stuff and install the basic program. HSFX 7 (torrent file) www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&get=1785&mirror=2807After downloading the torrent file, run it with whatever torrent program you have. Make sure all the HSFX files being downloaded by the torrent are put into a folder where they are together. Then run the HSFX_Version_7_0.EXE file, pointed to the main IL-2 directory. HSFX 7 Auto Updater dl.dropbox.com/u/26976891/HSFX_Auto_Updater.EXEPlace this exe into your main IL-2 directory, and run it from there. It will create HSFX_Client_Updater.exe. This is the actual updater. Run this and it will take you up to 7.0.1.

This needs to be placed into your main IL-2 directory of a game that has 4.12.2 and HSFX 7 installed. Running this exe will install the HSFX_Client_Updater.exe, which is the actual updater. Running that exe will bring you up to HSFX 7.0.1. dl.dropbox.com/u/26976891/HSFX_Auto_Updater.EXE
