262s?

Sorry, I'm afraid that's long past. It was something I tried back then, but it was categorically banned on servers. It never worked out, as there was absolutely nowhere to fly it online, and we exist for online flying. I would guess that after the '46 addon is released, there may be some jet dominant maps around HL, or perhaps some COOPs from time to time with it. But as it stands now with the current aircraft list, the 262, in all it's historical glory, is taboo. It will be relegated to competing with hypothetical airplanes from the addon.

Don't have the Military Channel, but I've seen that 3/4 replica featured before. That has got to be some fun. Did they say what power the engine does have?

This is sort of the controversy at hand. These mods are not official, or even sanctioned in any way by the proper people. They are unauthorized hacks often using stolen sounds, so it's not the cleanest operation. It does, so I am told, make the game sound better. Also, it allows the human use of AI planes, by transplanting another plane's cockpit into it. This opens up a lot of very nice possibilities that much of the community has been clamoring for, for quite some time. The flip side is that it also allows the changing of default skins, flight and damage models, etc, by those with bad intentions. There are certain mod packs that exist which only give you the sounds and AI flyables, without touching the flight/damage models. These are in the process of being considered for use down the line, but that depends on a few things which haven't happened yet. For now, I'd recommend restraint in downloading or using these. I have not touched them, and don't plan to at this time.

I had that working before '46. I'll give it another shot with this version, because it really does look nice when we have the defaults on for FS.

Well, I wouldn't say it ran all that well, it just ran. I was just looking for it to work without all the distortions I get with it on my computer. I played CoD with the graphics all the way down, and when I was typing to Molders on MSN, the fans sounded like they were going overdrive and things started to run real slow. It gave me an hour glass cursor and I actually couldn't type anything. So I had to shut down and open it up to let it cool. 9800s are not for Dell's 250W PSUs, it was just enough to test that it was not toasted like my 9700.
On the hard drive transfer issue, instead of having them both in there and disconnecting other stuff, would it be better to just switch the hard drives for each other? So it would only have one in at a time while I put my info on to DVD? Or would that cause compatibility problems?

Okay, I put my 9700 in and it was all messed up like it was on my machine. The 9800 looks great, played CoD no distortion no lock up, which is better than I ever had with it on mine. So it was my 9700, but also something else, because the 9800 is all good, whew. It must be the motherboard, because the new power supply is more than enough. In order to transfer my hard drive info without paying hundreds of bucks, we were thinking about using the second hard drive bay on my mom's computer and putting it on CD or DVD. Will this work? Is Dell's 250 Watt PSU enough to handle two hard drives for one day to copy all my stuff? At least the end to this madness is in sight. Sturtz will be happy to hear he'll be getting some business

Okay, new hard drive came, 3 days late, but it's here. When we get this in, her computer should be working again. Since this happened she changed her mind about letting me test my two cards in her computer, so now I can finally see whether or not it's them or what. If not, then it's almost certainly my motherboard, which would also explain why it thinks I don't have an optical drive. If this is the case I'm going to buy a custom rig from Sturtz, CO of IV./JG51. He builds gaming machines for guys. So we'll see.

Well, I was using my mom's Dell on occasion to check my emails and forum stuff. I couldn't fly on it, but I could install FB and use the FMB to make missions off of the one I did for the online war just before mine broke. Since I can't see to get it off my computer, I had Tinman email it back to me. The day after he did that my mom's hard drive broke (Fail. Return Code: 7) It's only like 7 months old. Gotta love Dell's quality eh. So now I only have my sister's 5 year old iMac So much for making missions right now. We might be able to get a new hard drive in a couple days, but who knows if we'll be able to retrieve anything from the old one.

I think you got me here. That is a nice shot of the Emil's tail, which makes it pretty obvious. I was thinking though that it was only the Emil because starting with the F, the H-stab looked much more rigid and fixed. Note the closed front as opposed to the E. And the bolted metal strip that covers the joint that the Emil doesn't have. But then I found this picture, which looks to me like the internal mechanism which controls the angle of the H-stab.

I'm pretty sure it did not. It just would have been the trim tabs on the elevator. I'm not really sure what he means by the stab being all the way back unless it's that. It is interesting to hear two real pilots of those planes speak so adamantly about the relative performance, and their theory for inconsistant sims.

No it's not just you. Sometime earlier today the TS and game servers went down. Shrike has been notified and I'm sure he'll be on top of it soon.

The 357th Blazing Magnums' CO, Raven and I have agreed upon a series of fights between our two squads. Fight nights will be Wednesday every other week starting officially at 6 pm PDT, but we should be there early. Our fights with them begin on June 2. I hope to see you all there.

If you have tried to access the website today, you've noticed that it is down. Apparently Comcast has changed its IPs so the webspace used was forwarding to the wrong address. We have updated the forwarding IP, but it might take until some time tomorrow to take effect.

A leaked version of the 2.02 patch has appeared online and is being spread by some people. UBI has advised that we do not download and use it, as it is not the official version. The powers that be at FBOW have decided to update their server to it anyway. My personal recommendation is that you should just wait until the official patch is released and avoid any risk in using the leaked version. The proper 2.02 patch should be released VERY soon. If you choose to do otherwise as some others have, it is of course your choice and risk.

Unfortunately, after some delays, the decision was made to indefinitely postpone the launch of COT IV. An optomistic resumption would be sometime in the summer. Let's hope.
