Yes, they've been shipping since the 18th. NWS said they'll ship by the 22nd.

They combined two add-ons. Sturmoviks over Manchuria (4.06m) and VVS '46 (4.07m). The DVD set has one disk for the add-ons, and one disk with BoB preview stuff. The Boonty Box download(s), without the BoB preview, would probably be bought from the UK store again. I don't think there was an official North American release of 4.06m/4.07m.

At least this time, Molders, there are 36 planes (32 flyable), 4 maps, and almost 1,000 skins. This will be much more of a true add-on than Pe-2 was with 3 planes (variants), no maps, no skins... Whether or not you're interested in the sizable additions is another thing. For compatibility reasons, this will be required as it bumps us from 4.05m to 4.07m. Exactly when it is needed, I'm not sure. I don't know how they want to handle the rest of Normandy Phase I, but we'll find out soon. If price is an issue, I heard that the Boonty Box downloads of 4.06m and 4.07m will be cheaper than buying the DVD set. Anyone seen a price or release date for these?
Even if you get it, make sure that you are still capable of using it at the 4.05m level until we know how FS wants to do the change over. Don't patch yourself out of the war.

That should be interesting to try. I'll bet the change is pretty small. Things like this are usually exaggerated in one's own head.
Has everyone ordered this yet? Anyone waiting for the boonty downloads? Cheaper I suppose, but no SoW:BoB preview DVD.

Since it looks like it will be at least another week until 4.01 we might just want to go with 4.0. It is a final release candidate, and Oleg only pointed to bugs with the dedicated server. So it's not like an early beta version with lots of questions. We'll get things squared up tonight when we meet.

The Desert Online map looks nice, terrain wise. That's what those pictures are of. It should be nice for some HL servers, but the size and design can't support FS. The Italy map looks okay, and it can support an FS campaign, if you make believe that it's Italy. I call it Frankenitaly.

Yeah, you're right about the ROF, the higher the setting the slower it fires, oops. That doesn't make sense to me either, but oh well. If you want, try this out and see if you like the balance. Convoy inside 2km square. 1 X HMS Illustrious Carrier, Rookie, ROF 25.0 2 X Rus. "Aurora" Cruiser, Rookie, ROF 1.0 8 X USS Dent Destroyer, Rookie, ROF 1.0

Yikes, LOL ;D I guess that was an understatement. I did a quick set up test using Guam as Axis North Africa and Rota as Malta (about the same size). I put those eleven ships about 40km west of the island and went hunting with a Stuka. No chance, I mean none. Ships were set to Rookie with ROF on 1.0 the first time. The flak gave me a slide show on the way in. And this is the computer that was flawless online over Orel in combat. It ripped me up about a couple kilometers before I got there. Next try, put ROF at 0.5, the lowest possible (have to set to 0 and let it auto-correct). A bit better, chewed up on the dive in, dead just before bomb release. You'll have to scale it down to less than Force A however you set it up.

Here you go for the ships. Operation Excess, convoys MC-4 and MW-5. users.swing.be/baten/bat/877.htmlObviously the total number of ships involved is way too many for use in a map. And there were numerous Gruppen involved in the attack, as apposed to us. So to scale it down to reason, I guess you could just create Force A, the HMS Illustrious' base unit. One carrier, two battleships, and eight destroyers. That should be tough enough.

Well, according to my sources the HMS Illustrious was attacked on January 10, 1941 by Ju 87s and He 111s, so the H-2 would be appropriate. Later, in Grand Harbour, it was attacked by Ju 87s and Ju 88s escorted by CR.42s. As a note, Bf 109F-2 was delivered in January, the F-4 was June. But still, since we are talking about the first month, and usually the Mediterranean was considered a sub-theater, I think the E-7 is more fitting. Some units didn't trade their E-7s for Fs in the MTO until late Summer. The Bf 110G-2 might have similar default armament, but it received a considerable engines upgrade and is really a 1943 aircraft. For the Allies, both the Tomahawk Mk. II and the Spitfire Vb are March, too late for this scenario. And the only P-400s to see action in the area were those of the Twelfth Airforce in North Africa, probably 1943, way too late. The Hurricane Mk. IIb is late 1940, so that should be Allied fighter along with the Gladiators. The IIc is about a month too late for this scenario. So if you want to go by January 1941, Mediterranean: Allies - Gladiators, Hurricane Mk. IIb Axis - Bf 109E-7, Ju 87B, He 111H-2, CR.42, G.50 Of course it's your map and you can fudge all you want on plane set accuracy. I'm sure it will be fun either way.

The official squad meeting is only one day a week, on Thursday. But the point behind it is to prepare for our missions. We are active in an online war called Forgotten Skies during three other days (Sun/Tue/Fri). The action for these four nights all starts at 9:30pm ET, although you really have to get to FS missions a bit early. Typically these events require two hours of online time to be done in full. If you could only make it for one hour, as long as you did attend regularly, it'd probably still be worth your while. But an hour or two a month won't really get you much. So even if you have to leave a little early, it's more important to show up for most things.

Beckh, I think you're right. So much for that consolation. Looking around more, there does seem to be one or two planned free patch add-ons in addition to these 3 paid ones. I must have been thinking of that. There's supposed to be a Sicily, or at least some part of Italy coming from this whole slew of things, as well as more of Germany, Manchuria, and Burma. Specter, sorry about the beer. Good luck with that, I hope it works out.

Yes, it is a version change, and I am sure that just like AEP and PF and every other patch, it will be necessary to have the latest version in order to play online. In my honest opinion, looking at just what we got new in this add-on, a few variants of one plane and some offline stuff, I don't think it is worth $20. BUT, when you consider all the numerous changes, addons, and updates that we have gotten over the last few years that were absolutely free, this is small price to pay for the continued support and development of the IL-2 engine. If it is any consolation, I believe that this is the last paid add-on for the series. As I understand it, after this will follow a free patch/add-on called IL-10, and then another one called VVS '46. Then it is full throttle towards SOW:BoB. I don't know what everyone's financial situation is, but my guess is that if you have the time to sit around and fly this for hours every week, then you probably have $20 bucks sitting around somewhere.
